The Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021. Now that they got what they wanted - control of the country,-and with their enemy - the US army - gone, they stopped carrying out terror attacks. Since then the safety has mostly returned. The many decades of war in the country caused Afghans to be spread all over the world as refugees. Now that the war has more or less ceased, it provides the opportunity for many of the Afghan diaspora to return to their homeland after a long time, or see it for the very first time. I follow the Dutch Shah Tabibi as he travelled back to his homecountry for the first time in 17 years.
